As soon as endorsed by the INTOSAI Congress early in November this year, ISSAI 150 will be a critical tool in achieving international standards for auditor competence in the areas of financial, performance and compliance auditing, for SAIs from both developed and developing countries.

In this video, Evans Mulera (API) and Archana Shirsat (IDI) share their unique views about this important initiative from a development and professional education perspective.

Evans is the CEO of the African Professionalisation Initiative, an initiative which aims to grow the capacity of professional accountants and auditors to equip them to support accountability, transparency and good governance in the public sector. Archana shares her views as the Deputy Director-General in the Department for Professional and Relevant SAIs at the INTOSAI Development Initiative, as well as the lead for the Professional Education for SAI Auditors (PESA) pilot project. PESA-P is a global pilot project that addresses Requirement 3 of ISSAI 150, relating to the establishment of dedicated pathways for professional development of auditors, specifically tailored to the SAI’s mandate, regulatory framework, organisation structure and needs.
