Workshops
The workstream on Auditing in Complex and Challenging Contexts (ACCC) provides different types of platforms with the aim to share experiences and learn from each other. The ACCC workshops is a forum for SAI leaders to dig deeper into challenges they face in their different countries and discuss possible solutions with peers.
ACCC workshop in Kuala Lumpur
12-13 December 2019
On 12 and 13 December 2019, the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee’s Workstream on auditing in complex and challenging contexts convened a meeting for a small group of SAIs from PASAI and other regions to share experiences. The workshop followed on from a two-day meeting organized by International Federation of Accountants on Developing Accounting Capacity in Emerging Economies.
Following subjects were discussed:
- Strengthening the capacity and role of parliaments and/or public accounts committees.
- Improving the delivery of audits – timing, volume and quality.
- Achieving greater independence.
- Building staff skills, performance and retention.
- Combatting corruption.
- Managing politics.
ACCC workshop in Tunis
17-18 October 2019
On 17 and 18 October 2019, the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee’s Workstream on auditing in complex and challenging contexts convened a meeting for a small group of SAIs from the ARABOSAI region to share experiences and to explore opportunities for a longer-term strategy of mutual support. The meeting was hosted by the ARABOSAI Secretariat and the Tunisian Court of Accounts.
The following subjects were discussed:
- Building the capacity of staff and retaining them
- Forging strong links with parliaments, especially public accounts committees
- Combatting corruption
- Functioning in insecure environments
- Dealing with political upheavals
- Ensuring the implementation of recommendations.
ACCC workshop in Johannesburg
28-28 March 2018
On 28 and 29 March 2018, the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee’s Working Group convened a meeting for a small group of SAIs to share experiences and to explore opportunities for a longer-term strategy of mutual support. The meeting was hosted by the South African Audit Office and facilitated by David Goldsworthy and Silvia Stefanoni from Development Action.
The following subjects were discussed:
- Improving the skills of staff quickly
- Improving the delivery of audits – time, cost, quality
- Accessing donor funds (especially for infrastructure support)
- Getting recommendations implemented
- Strengthening the capacity of parliament
- Achieving greater independence
