Peer reviews performed during this year in OLACEFS have as a background the Seminar-Workshop on Peer Reviews held in Asuncion, Paraguay during November 21st and 22nd 2013. Some of the SAIs agreed to participate in a peer review and therefore their commitment was considered on the 2014 Annual Planning Activities of the OLACEFS Capacity Building Committee.
Peer reviews performed include the following SAIs:
· SAI Paraguay (reviewed) and SAI Peru (reviewer).
· SAI Dominican Republic (reviewed) and SAI Honduras (reviewer), support of SAI Peru (advisor).
· SAI Belize (reviewed) and SAI Peru (reviewer).
SAIs agreed to be reviewed so that they could strengthen their management and establish whether their organic structure is in line with constitutional and legal roles; if their activities were developed under the necessary tools for a proper institutional progress; and if they look to determine whether the exercise of their functions meet the current legislation and standards issued by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
In accordance with this and as a first formal procedure, participating SAIs elaborated and signed the Memorandum of Understanding, collecting fundamental aspects for the execution of the peer review project.
