| Sharm El-Sheikh, 31 October 2025 – The African Organisation of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E) is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Kimi Makwetu Award, a distinguished recognition presented by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). The award was conferred during the XXV INTOSAI Congress (INCOSAI), celebrating AFROSAI-E’s outstanding contributions to capacity building within the global public auditing community.
Established in 2021 and named in honour of the late Kimi Makwetu—former Auditor General of South Africa and Chair of the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee from 2013 to 2020—the award recognises exceptional commitment to strengthening the skills, systems, and sustainability of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) worldwide. “This award is a tribute to the collective efforts of our member SAIs, partners, and dedicated team,” said Meisie Nkau, CEO at AFROSAI-E. “We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition in the name of Kimi Makwetu, whose legacy continues to inspire our work in advancing good governance and accountability across the continent.” AFROSAI-E has long championed innovative approaches to institutional development, peer learning, and regional collaboration. Through its strategic initiatives, training programmes, and technical support, the organisation has significantly enhanced audit quality and public sector oversight in its member countries. The award was presented to AFROSAI-E’s leadership during the triennial INTOSAI Congress, symbolising the global community’s appreciation for its enduring impact.
