In the spirit of the agreement between INTOSAI Goal Chairs to improve cooperation, CBC Vice Chair, Mr Magnus Lindell, attended the Steering Committee of the INTOSAI Committee on Knowledge Sharing and Knowledge Services (KSC). Mr Lindell reported on the conclusions from the CBC Annual Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, in September and shared progress made by the CBC work streams. He also encouraged KSC Steering Committee members to comment on the exposure draft of ISSAI 5600 on Peer Reviews, which is currently available. The meeting was also attended by the Chair of the Professional Standards Committee (PSC), Ms Nanna Henning.

The KSC Steering Committee was held in Washington, DC 14-15 October, and was hosted by the Government Accountability Office of the United States. Participants were welcomed by Mr Shashi Kant Sharma, Comptroller and Auditor General of India and Chairman of the KSC, and by Mr Gene Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States.

Participants received updates and reports from the INTOSAI General Secretariat, the INTOSAI Director of Strategic Planning and the IDI as well as both the Professional Standards Committee and the Capacity Building Committee. The host of next year’s INTOSAI Congress, the SAI of the United Arab Emirates, gave information on the preparations for the event.

All KSC working groups also provided progress reports and shared news of ongoing work with new or revised ISSAIs and other initiatives. From a CBC perspective, the information provided by the KSC on the cooperation with IDI regarding work relating to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), were of particular interest. Initiatives include the creation of a community of practice regarding the audit of the SDGs, development of guidance on auditing preparedness for the implementation of the SDGs, cooperative audit of preparedness for the implementation of the SDGs, and summarizing lessons learned.
